Have you always wanted to sing in a band but never quite done it? Live Band Karaoke is proving a very popular part of our set. It's here to make your dream come true.
Here's the idea. Each time we play, we'll have at least one, maybe a couple of Karaoke slots. The second one will probably be a song we've chosen that everyone knows, and we'll pass around a hat and pick a name to come up on stage. Last time we did Wild Thing. I've a fancy for Louie Louie after seeing John The Postman on 24 Hour Party People. Maybe after that, Tom Jones' It's Not Unusual, although we might have a problem with not having a brass section. Those are just my thoughts (John A), I've not cleared those with the band yet.
Anyway, the main idea is this. If you want to do the main Karaoke slot, let us know and tell us what song you'd like to do. We have a few people waiting to do it, so you'll get into a queue.
When your time comes, we get to approve or not the song you've chosen. You should consider whether the song is our kind of thing, and also the instruments we have. We're hardly likely to be able to pull off a Chemical Brothers track.
If that's all good, you'll be invited to come along to a couple of practices before the gig so we can work on the song together. Assuming you're not a complete plonker, you'll be up on the night.
One thing's worth noting. It's not just vocal Karaoke. If you want to come up and play harp, keyboards or accordian, that's great. If you want to do a duet, that's cool. If you have your own brass section, bring it on.
So what are you waiting for? Collect your own Rah! You know you want to.
